Up Date on The Star Scout Show 2010

First person to be auditioned was a young girl from the 8^th Wicklow, Blessington Alice Nocton who was a finalist in the RTE 2 Ice Competition on The Den. Alice has a lovely voice and will sing a song from

“Les Miserables” in this years Star Scout Show

Next we went down to the 18^th/26^th Waterford, Ferrybank, over the last few years this group has performed a Song & Dance routine with a girl group called “Angelz”, This year Chloe from that group is their Producer for “The Shop of Horrors” this act has a great story line complete with Songs & Dance to keep you well entertained.

The Production Team called down to Athy and the 5th Kildare, Athy, where they will treat the audience to “The Evolution of Dance”. While in Athy, we auditioned the Ventures of the 5th Carlow with their version of some of the big hit movies.

AIB Better Ireland Award

Scouting Ireland is pleased to announced that a number of their Scout Groups have been shortlisted for the AIB Better Ireland Award and need your help....

The prizes are €5K, €3K and €2. Winners are determined by a voting system which takes place between 15 Feb and 15 March 2010.

You can vote every day / as many times as you like per day/week during the above period,

The highest votes in each Branch win the €5K!!

Star Scout Show

Introduction

The Scout Show has been in operation since 1986. It is the only event in which all sections of the Scout Group from beavers to leaders can participate as a group and without competition.

In 2006, the Scout Show’s name was changed from the National Scout Show to the Star Scout Show. The 08 Show fell under the production / direction of Pat Hollingsworth. Previous shows have been produced / directed by Declan Heaney, Joseph Lawlor (RIP) and Martin Kerr.

In 2009, the Star Scout Show (formerly the National Scout Show) celebrated its 21st birthday and we took a walk down memory lane by showcasing some of the most popular acts from the many years of the Scout Show.

In 2010, the Star Scout Show (formerly the National Scout Show) celebrates its 22nd birthday and we hope to see you there.

White House: Downstairs: 12 Beds (including segretated leader area) & Upstairs Activity Area which doubles as on ground sleeping accomodation. Camping Space for up to 60

Toilets & Showers (6 in all) in each building Oil fired central heating through-out

Fully Equiped Kitchen (Gas Cookers) Split Sitting & Dining area with Open Fire in both areas. TV available for use

Wet Weather & Activity Shelter (currently under development)

Activities

The site is located near to the Slieve Bloom Way and is suitable as a base for exploring the hills. Nearby is some 50 acres of forrestry with endless programme options

Space on site for Scout Skills and general sporting activities

Pony Trekking & Fishing available in Camross

Cinema, Bowling & Theatre in Portlaoise

Birr Outdoor Pursuit Centre

Explore Laois, Offaly and North Tipperary (Shannon Waterways activities, Heritage Towns in Roscrea & Birr, Visit Scout Log Cabin in nearby Kinnity) and much much more........
